The Navy's newest Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) hovercraft arrived at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City (NSWC PCD) September 2nd 2020. The two craft, LCAC 100 and LCAC 101, were escorted by NSWC PCD's research, development, test and evaluation craft, LCAC 91. This effort is part of the Navy's Ship to Shore Connector Program which calls for the procurement of 72 craft with a separate craft serving as a test and training craft.

Textron Systems Hands 11th Ship-to-Shore Hovercraft to US Navy

The US Navy has taken delivery of the Landing Craft Air Cushion 111 from Textron Systems as part of the Ship-to-Shore Connector program.

Edmund Poynton, commanding officer of the Tigertails of Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 125 lands on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in an E-2D Hawkeye after a change of command ceremony, in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 10. During the change of command ceremony Cmdr. David Wiltshire transferred command of VAW 125 to Poynton. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region. USNS John Lewis (T-AO 205) sits pierside at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD), Friday, Nov. 4. The U.S. Navy fleet replenishment oiler, delivered to Military Sealift Command in July, is in the beginning months of its year-long ship qualification trials schedule and stopped by NSWC PHD for a stores resupply and minor repairs by builder representatives. The Underway Replenishment (UNREP) fuel and cargo delivery stations aboard the civilian-crewed ship use the new Electric Standard Tensioned Replenishment Alongside Method (E-STREAM) technology, designed by NSWC PHD UNREP engineers. USNS John Lewis is the first oiler to have the new E-STREAM systems on board, and the command’s UNREP team members were excited to see in person the system installed on a ship.
