Quantum Systems Raises $1.2B to Scale Autonomous Defense Systems

German defense firm Quantum Systems has secured $1.2 billion in fresh funding as it expands production of autonomous defense systems and military software.

The Series D financing round will help expand manufacturing capacity, strengthen supply chains, and increase deliveries across allied markets.

It will also enable the company to continue investing in AI and software development.

“This financing unlocks our next phase of growth as we industrialize our multi-domain platform, scale production across allied markets and continue investing in the technology infrastructure that defines our long-term competitive position,” Quantum Systems CFO Jonas Jarosch said.

Quantum Systems also plans to use the funding to accelerate its transition from individual uncrewed platforms to a family of interoperable autonomous systems connected through the MOSAIC UXS software ecosystem for air, land, and sea platforms.

Defense Firms Draw Major Investment

Quantum Systems joins a growing list of defense technology companies that have secured major funding rounds as investors increase spending on autonomous systems, AI, and military software.

In July, Estonian company Vegvisir secured funding from Iron Wolf Capital to accelerate development of software for commanding and controlling manned and unmanned military systems across multiple domains, while supporting deployments with NATO government and commercial customers.

In June, Allen Control Systems raised $200 million to expand manufacturing of its Bullfrog autonomous weapon station and accelerate new product development.

The same month, Lithuania’s PDKINEMATICS secured 2 million euros ($2.2 million) to scale production of its drone precision guidance systems for European and Ukrainian users, while robotics startup Shifters raised $10.2 million in seed funding to develop autonomous robotic teams for reconnaissance and other high-risk military missions.
