The Indian Army is addressing one of the biggest challenges of traditional diesel fuel: its tendency to thicken and clog fuel filters in extreme cold.
Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth recently introduced Xtreme Weather Grade (XWG) Diesel, a specialized fuel designed to remain effective at temperatures as low as -42 degrees Celsius (-43.6 degrees Fahrenheit).
The fuel reportedly meets national emission and quality standards, allowing it to be used across existing vehicle fleets without engine modifications or re-certification.
