Commanders of Ukraine’s main combat corps have, for the first time, met directly with domestic weapons and equipment manufacturers as Kyiv seeks to improve the flow of battlefield feedback into defense production and procurement.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the meeting brought together frontline commanders, defense manufacturers, and government agencies.
It also prompted the creation of a regular mechanism to address equipment performance, procurement delays, and battlefield requirements.
Representatives from the ministries of defense and finance, as well as Ukraine’s security services, also took part.
Participants included the commanders of the Air Assault Forces, the 10th, 11th, and 19th Army Corps, and the Khartiia and Azov Corps, as well as representatives of Ukraine’s defense industry.
Battlefield Feedback and Procurement Priorities
Discussions centered on issues identified by units engaged in combat. Procurement delays, unresolved supply problems, and funding needs were among the main topics.
The meeting addressed contracts for drones, robotic ground systems, long-range artillery ammunition, and other military equipment.
Participants also reviewed equipment defects reported during operational use.
Zelensky said direct feedback from frontline troops should help manufacturers identify problems more quickly and improve their products.
Similar meetings with other corps commanders are expected to follow soon, creating a regular feedback mechanism coordinated by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the National Security and Defense Council.
Zelensky identified air defense as a key focus area and said diplomatic efforts to secure additional international support would remain an important part of that work.
Ukraine’s current priorities, he added, are to strengthen its military position before August and prepare for various scenarios related to Russia’s actions later in the year.
