The US Air Combat Command (ACC) has begun implementing a secure mobile messaging capability developed by Hypori.
ACC said the initiative will provide personnel with a secure mobile communications capability for handling Controlled Unclassified Information, while reducing reliance on government-issued devices and enabling communication away from fixed workstations.
Initial deployments cover 10,000 Air Combat Command personnel and are expected to expand secure messaging access to up to 27,000 Department of the Air Force users.
“Secure messaging platforms directly strengthen mission readiness by enabling our forces to collaborate confidently and securely on the move,” said Brigadier General Jeffrey Phillips, Director of Air Combat Command’s Directorate of Cyberspace & Warfighting Communications.
Virtualized Communications Platform
The implementation is based on Hypori Lyte, a virtual mobile infrastructure platform that provides access to encrypted messaging services without storing sensitive information on the user’s device.
Instead, messages and other data remain on secure servers, an approach designed to reduce the risk of exposure if a phone or tablet is lost, stolen, or compromised.
Hypori said the deployment’s success will be assessed based on user adoption, reduced device burden, improved flexibility, and the ability to maintain required security and data-protection standards.
The deployment aligns with the Department of the Air Force’s broader Workspace Anywhere initiative, which seeks to expand secure remote access to military applications and services across the force.
