Booz Allen Hamilton is moving deeper into battlefield software and secure communications with a $720-million agreement to acquire Ultra I&C Mission Solutions from Cobham Ultra Group.
Ultra develops mission-critical software, encryption tools, and edge computing systems used to support command-and-control operations in contested environments.
Once completed, the deal will fold Ultra’s technology stack into Booz Allen’s broader suite of defense products, including AI-enabled battle management systems and resilient communications platforms already deployed across US national security programs.
Booz Allen defense technology business president Steven Escaravage said the move reflects the company’s effort to invest in “reliable, scalable solutions that help unite the defense technology ecosystem.”
“This combination provides a foundation for our continued investment to harness advantage from commercial technology innovation,” he said.
The transaction is expected to close in 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
Defense Software Technologies
The Ultra deal is the latest in a series of acquisitions that have helped Booz Allen expand beyond consulting and into defense technology products.
In 2024, Booz Allen acquired software company PAR Government Systems, adding geospatial intelligence, mission software, and advanced analytics capabilities used by defense and intelligence customers.
The company also bought EverWatch in 2022, bringing in expertise in signals intelligence, software development, and engineering services supporting national security agencies.
In 2021, the company purchased Tracepoint to strengthen its cyber operations and digital forensics offerings.
