Finnish firm Patria and Slovakia have revised their agreement to accelerate deliveries of armored modular vehicles under an updated production schedule.
The adjustment focuses on speeding up the Slovak 8×8 armored vehicle program, with infantry fighting vehicles now prioritized under the updated timeline.
Ambulance variants have already been delivered this month, while other variants continue through production and integration phases.
“By this important step we achieved balanced terms and conditions for both sides,” Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area, said.
Local manufacturing is already underway in Slovakia as part of a broader industrial cooperation model built around technology transfer and domestic assembly. That structure is intended to strengthen Bratislava’s defense industrial base while improving supply security and long-term sustainment capacity.
Patria’s Footprint
Beyond Slovakia, Patria has built a wide international footprint through a mix of exports, joint production programs, and transfer agreements.
This month, the company signed a multi-year agreement with Valmet Automotive to expand production of the Patria 6×6 armored vehicle in Finland. The deal continues manufacturing at Valmet’s Uusikaupunki facility, with full production capacity expected by early 2027.
In May, Patria entered into agreements with Czech state-owned defense entities to strengthen local industrial participation and enhance long-term production, development, and sustainment capabilities within the country.
The same month, Patria also signaled readiness to support Lithuania’s potential participation in the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System program, following the country’s approval to procure more than 900 6×6 vehicles.
