Israeli defense company SMARTSHOOTER has secured a 5.8-million new shekel ($1.9-million) contract to provide its SMASH Hopper remote-controlled weapon stations to the Israel Ministry of Defense.
Deliveries of the equipment will begin by the end of 2026 and include a six-month extension for the supply of additional spare parts and support services, depending on user requirements.
The award carries a potential value of 7.4 million new shekels ($2.5 million) if all options are exercised.
The SMASH Hopper System
SMASH Hopper is a compact standoff suite deployable in both fixed and mobile configurations.
The 25-kilogram (55-pound) technology is mountable on light vehicles and unmanned systems, and can be fielded for various mission profiles such as urban combat, border security, and critical infrastructure security.
The solution integrates with existing command and control networks and conducts coordinated attacks with other types of weapon stations.
The weapon comes with a tripod, a battery, tilt unit, remote trigger, SMASH fire control system, and a Picatinny mount for M4 5.56-millimeter and DMR 7.62-millimeter assault rifles.
In action, the SMASH Hopper can engage ground targets at 800 meters (2,625 feet) and airborne threats at 600 meters (1,969 feet).
‘Continued Confidence’
SMARTSHOOTER’s contract follows a similar award last May to deliver the weapon stations to Tel Aviv.
That agreement has a ceiling value of 14.6 million new shekels ($4.9 million) and runs through September 2026.
“The Israeli Ministry of Defense’s decision to expand its procurement of Smart Shooter systems reflects continued confidence in their operational value,” SMARTSHOOTER CEO Michal Mor commented on the latest deal.
“We view this contract as an important step in further strengthening and expanding our cooperation with the [Israel Defense Forces].”
