Aerospace manufacturer Embraer has signed a long-term logistics support agreement with the Brazilian Air Force covering the KC-390 Millennium transport aircraft fleet.
The contract provides lifecycle sustainment services for KC-390 aircraft currently in operation, as well as additional aircraft scheduled for delivery in the future.
Under the arrangement, Embraer will provide component repair and overhaul, spare parts supply, engineering support, technical documentation, and contingency support services.
The agreement covers a range of maintenance and logistics services to improve fleet readiness, increase aircraft availability, and reduce downtime.
Lieutenant-Brigadier Valter Malta, Brazilian Air Force General Support Commander, said that the initiative “contributes to enhancing operational efficiency across the Brazilian Air Force, while strengthening reliability and ensuring continuity for a program that has become a global benchmark in military aviation.”
KC-390 Millennium
The KC-390 Millennium is a twin-engine aircraft designed to perform missions including cargo and troop transport, airdrop operations, and medical evacuation.
It also supports operations such as search and rescue, aerial firefighting, humanitarian assistance, and air-to-air refueling.
The aircraft can operate from semi-prepared and unpaved runways and can be configured as either a tanker or a receiver during refueling missions.
It can transport up to 26 tons of payload, reach speeds of 470 knots (870 kilometers/540 miles per hour), and perform both tactical and strategic airlift missions.
The Brazilian Air Force was the launch operator of the KC-390 program and remains the platform’s largest user.
In recent years, the aircraft has also been selected by several international operators, including the air forces of Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Slovakia, and Lithuania.
