PsiQuantum Secures $125M DARPA Deal to Advance Quantum Computing Testing
PsiQuantum has signed a new agreement worth up to $125 million with the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to continue testing and evaluating its utility-scale quantum computing technology under the agency’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative.
The award will support independent assessments of the company’s quantum computing architecture, including hardware, software, critical components, and overall system performance.
It will also fund infrastructure upgrades at PsiQuantum’s facilities in Milpitas, California, and Chicago, Illinois, as the company advances development of a fault-tolerant, utility-scale quantum computer.
PsiQuantum is one of only two companies to reach Stage C, the final phase of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative.
This stage focuses on verifying whether competing technologies can be scaled to practical quantum computers capable of solving problems beyond the reach of today’s classical systems.
As part of the evaluation, PsiQuantum has provided agency experts with access to technical documentation, prototype designs, component testing, manufacturing processes, software tools, and on-site demonstrations.

Expanding Operations
The latest DARPA agreement follows a May 2026 Letter of Intent between PsiQuantum and the US Department of Commerce for up to $100 million in proposed incentives under the CHIPS and Science Act to support quantum computing and semiconductor manufacturing in the US.
Earlier, in September 2025, the company secured a separate $31.8-million DARPA agreement to continue on-site testing and technical evaluation under the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative.
PsiQuantum is also collaborating with other US government organizations, including the Air Force Research Laboratory and several US national laboratories, as it continues developing utility-scale quantum computing technology.
