The Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) F-15K Slam Eagle fighters are set to receive BAE Systems’ AN/ALQ-250 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability Systems (EPAWSS).
Delivery of the advanced electronic warfare (EW) suite is part of a contract the British defense company received from Boeing, which serves as the prime contractor and lead integrator of F-15 aircraft upgrades.
Supporting broader efforts to upgrade the ROKAF’S 59-unit F-15K fleet, the EPAWSS is expected to enhance pilots’ ability to operate in contested environments while ensuring interoperability with US forces.
“We are working closely with Boeing, the ROKAF and regional industry teams to deliver the most technically advanced EW system for the F-15K aircraft upgrade,” said Phillip Casalegno, F-15 international program director at BAE Systems.
EPAWSS
BAE developed the EPAWSS to provide 360-degree threat detection and countermeasures, improving pilots’ situational awareness in hostile and signal-dense electromagnetic environments.
The systems replace three F-15 legacy tactical EW system components: the AN/ALR-56C Radar Warning Receiver, AN/ALQ-135 Internal Countermeasure Set, and AN/ALE-45 Countermeasures Dispenser Set.
The EPAWSS entered full-rate production in January 2025.
In the same month, the US Air Force received its first two EPAWSS-equipped F-15E aircraft, which were stationed at RAF Lakenheath in the UK.
