New Teledyne System Brings Chemical Threat Detection Time Below 20 Seconds

A Teledyne Technologies subsidiary has introduced a rapid chemical detection system featuring a proprietary solution said to represent “a major leap forward in speed and sensitivity.”

The system, called CheMSense Protect, can continuously monitor airflow for potential chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals, and is reported to identify threats in under 20 seconds.

That timeframe marks a significant reduction from standard industry response times of several minutes, a gap that can be critical in limiting the spread of hazardous gases in environments such as public transit systems and military vehicles.
