US Army Selects Gentex for Advanced Soldier Communication Systems
Gentex Corporation will supply its Ops-Core AMP communication headset and integrated soldier systems for the US Army’s Next Generation Command and Control prototyping program.
The selection places Gentex equipment in army experimentation leading up to Project Convergence Capstone 6, where soldiers will evaluate new digital command-and-control systems designed to connect sensors, shooters, and command elements in real time.
Alongside the AMP headset, the company will provide supporting components designed to improve communication and operational effectiveness across mounted and dismounted roles.
These include push-to-talk and cabling systems that allow soldiers to stay connected to both vehicle intercoms and personal radios, reducing the need to switch equipment when moving between platforms.
Gentex is also supplying NFMI earplugs designed to reduce noise exposure while preserving situational awareness through integrated audio processing, as well as helmet rail integration kits that allow the AMP headset to attach to Integrated Head Protection System helmets.
Next-Generation Communication Systems
US defense programs have increasingly focused on improving communications and situational awareness in the battlefield.
In January, Team Wendy Ceradyne and Theon International announced that the US Army is funding the Integrated Multi-Threat Headborne System, a new combat helmet designed to enhance protection and situational awareness in multi-domain operations.
In December 2025, Auburn University launched the Applied Research Institute to develop next-generation signals intelligence tools aimed at maintaining communications in contested and signal-denied environments.
In September 2025, Q-Net Security also secured a US Air Force contract to improve battlefield communications reliability, speed, and resilience in complex operational conditions.
