UK Opens ‘Europe’s Largest Drone Test Range’ to Accelerate Military Innovation
The UK has opened what it describes as Europe’s largest drone testing facility, aiming to speed the development and deployment of new capabilities for its armed forces.
Backed by Defense Secretary Dan Jarvis MP, the new Uncrewed Systems Centre (USC) is intended to help move emerging technologies from testing to operational use within weeks rather than years.
It will be based at the DroneTEX facility in Swindon, a site covering more than 545,000 square feet (50,632 square meters), equivalent to over 10 football pitches.
