RTX subsidiary Collins Aerospace has opened an expanded manufacturing facility in southeastern Poland as it increases production capacity for aircraft landing gear systems.
The 22,000-square-meter (236,800-square-feet) facility in Tajęcina represents a $69-million investment and is expected to increase landing gear production capacity by nearly 25 percent.
Collins Aerospace said the expansion will create about 190 jobs this year.
“Collins is making a long-term investment in both the local workforce and the future of aerospace in the broader Poland ecosystem,” said Matt Maurer, vice president and general manager of Landing Systems at Collins Aerospace.
The site manufactures landing gear assemblies for commercial and defense aircraft, including main, nose, and wing landing gear systems. Operations are supported by personnel at the Tajęcina facility and a second Collins site in Krosno.
RTX Investment in Poland
The expansion is part of a wider effort by RTX to increase its manufacturing footprint in Poland, which has become one of the company’s largest international operating hubs.
Earlier this year, RTX subsidiary Pratt & Whitney announced plans to invest $100 million in its facility in Rzeszów.
The project seeks to increase production of engine components, including compressor and turbine disks used in the company’s geared turbofan, F135, and F100 engine programs.
The expansion is expected to raise output by approximately 30 percent and become operational by 2028.
Poland is RTX’s largest employment base outside the United States. The company employs more than 9,400 people across its Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon businesses and operates nine engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and research facilities in the country.
RTX has maintained operations in Poland for more than five decades.
